S'pore to launch all-news station
SINGAPORE (AP): Singapore's state-run national television
corporation will launch an all-news station expected to debut
early next year, sources at the station confirmed yesterday.
The new station "is still in its developmental stages",
according to a recent statement from the Television Corporation
of Singapore, which already operates one English-language and one
multilingual station.
The 18-hour news station is expected to merge all news and
current affairs programs into one product and will air both local
and international news, sources told Dow Jones Newswires.
It is expected to operate from 6 a.m. to midnight local time.
Television Corporation of Singapore is restructuring its
entire news operations, the sources said, and eventually all the
reporters and current affairs staff will be placed in a common
pool that will become the main staff for the new station.
