S'pore to cane former church pastor

SINGAPORE: A former church pastor has been sentenced to jail and caning after he was convicted of molesting a woman on the street in Singapore, a news report said on Sunday.

Koh Seng Kee, 48, said he had approached a 21-year-old woman on a Singapore street in the early hours of Feb. 17 because he "sensed that she had problems" and wanted to help her, The Straits Times newspaper reported.

Koh was a pastor at the time but did not mention it to the woman, the report said.

The woman said Koh caressed her shoulder, kissed her cheek and touched her breast -- but Koh said he had only shaken her hand and put his hand on her shoulder to reassure her, the newspaper said. --AP
