SINGAPORE: A delegation from Singapore is in Japan studying ways to keep older workers employed longer, the manpower ministry said on Thursday.
The group is headed by Minister of State for Manpower and Education Gan Kim Yong.
They are studying methods the Japanese are adopting to continue hiring and retaining older workers, the ministry said in a statement.
Gan is scheduled to visit several private firms during the four-day visit and meet Japan's health, labor and welfare minister Jiro Kawasaki.
A committee on employment of older workers was set up under Gan earlier this year to explore ways of keeping aging employees on the job.-- DPA
