S'pore, RI begin naval exercises
SINGAPORE (AFP): Singapore and Indonesia on Monday began an
eight-day joint naval exercise, the defense ministry here said in
a statement.
Codenamed Ex Eagle, the exercise being held in Singaporean
waters includes a frigate, an anti-submarine escort vessel and
two "fast patrol boats" from the Indonesian navy.
The Singapore navy is operating a missile corvette, a missile
gunboat, an anti-submarine patrol vessel and a missile naval
escort vessel. Singapore maritime patrol and strike aircraft are
also engaged in the maneuvers.
The exercise, which ends on Nov. 28, is the 16th between the
two navies since 1974.
