S'pore paper tells KL to shut up
SINGAPORE (AP): Singapore's largest government-controlled newspaper told Malaysian politicians on Tuesday to "shut up" and accused them of going on flights of fancy in alleging that Singaporean aircraft had violated Malaysian airspace during the past month.
"The message that ought to get through to Kuala Lumpur is this: Show proof of the ... intrusions or shut up," said the editorial in The Straits Times.
It is unlikely in Singapore that such comments would be printed without prior government approval in an editorial that repeatedly quotes the Defense Ministry.
It said claims about Singaporean air force intrusions into Malaysian airspace "pop up every so often because it has become a habit for Malaysian politicians to blame Singapore whenever they want to go on a flight of fancy".
