S'pore mission to Cambodia
SINGAPORE (AFP): Singapore would send a trade mission to Cambodia from August 1-4, the Trade Development Board (TDB) said Friday.
The four-day visit is in conjunction with Minister for Trade and Industry Minister George Yeo's visit to the country, it said.
"The political and business situation in Cambodia has stabilized," said TDB's Deputy Director Cheang Kok Yun for the Southeast Asia region.
"This mission will reopen the doors for many of our business people who are still keen to venture into the country," he said. Yeo would hold talks with Prime Minister Hun Sen during his visit.
The mission comprises 18 companies from sectors including property development, tourism and manufacturing.
Two way trade between the two countries rose to S$779.8 million (US$448.1 million) in 1999 from 595.1 million in 1998.
The city-state's investment in Cambodia at the end of 1999 is estimated to be US$224 million.
