S'pore may develop `intelligent homes'
SINGAPORE (Reuter): Singapore's condominiums may soon be turned into computerized "intelligent" homes if a group of five computer firms have their way.
The consortium said yesterday it wanted to develop a state-of- the-art computer and communication network called "Smart Homes".
Residents of high-rise condominiums or apartment blocks could communicate with their neighbors or make reservations for in- house tennis courts and other facilities electronically, the consortium said.
Residents would have access to such services as home banking, home shopping and theater bookings, and would also have access to Internet, the global on-line network of 20 million users, it said.
