S'pore investor eyes coal deposit
MUARA TEWEH, Central Kalimantan: A Singaporean investor has planned to invest in the coal mining sector in North Barito regency here, North Barito Energy and Mineral Resources official Asran has said.
The company is to soon conduct a survey on Mt. Purei, which has an abundant coal deposit, Asran said on Saturday in Muara Teweh, capital of North Barito.
Asran declined to give out details on the Singaporean company.
The coal potential in North Barito traverses six subdistricts including Lahei, where the coal deposit runs through the villages of Muara Bakah, Luwe, Jangkang Baru, Jangkang Lama, Muara Inu, Rahaden and Karendan. The Lahei deposit is estimated to be 6,000 to 8,415 calories.
The Central Teweh deposit is estimated at 5,300 to 7,650 calories, East Teweh 6,000 to 7,650 calories, Mt. Timang 4,500 to 6,500 calories, Mt. Purei 6,000 to 7,000 calories and Montallat 4,500 to 6,500 calories. -- Antara
