S'pore expells nine HIV-infected wives
SINGAPORE (AP): Nine foreign women married to Singaporeans
have been sent home because they have the AIDS virus, and 10
other women were also expected to be repatriated, a newspaper
report said on Sunday.
The Sunday Times, citing unidentified sources, said that these
women are mainly from countries like Thailand, Indonesia, China
and the Philippines.
The women, who are not Singaporean citizens, carry social
passes, which allow them to stay in Singapore for a period of up
to a year, the report said.
The 10 women who are still in Singapore will not be allowed to
renew their passes when they expire, the report said.
