S'pore draws up electoral roll
SINGAPORE (Reuter): Singapore's Election Department has drawn
up fresh electoral registers for use in the coming general
election, but gave no clue when the poll would be held.
The provisional registers of the electorate will be open for
public inspection from May 10 to 23 and the registers will be
certified on June 28, the department said.
Analysts said the election, which seemed almost certain to be
held in the first half of this year, now appeared unlikely before
June or July.
The Political and Economic Risk Consultancy Ltd said that it
now expected the election to be held as late as August after
Singapore's National Day on Aug. 9.
