S'pore aid offers to be queried

SINGAPORE (AP): Singapore lawmakers plan to question the
country's aid offers to Thailand and Indonesia, Parliament
announced yesterday.

Several members have submitted written queries for Finance
Minister Richard Hu and Trade and Industry Minister Lee Yock Suan
to be answered at the next session Wednesday.

The Order Paper, an agenda released shortly before Parliament
meets, said one legislator plans to ask Hu about the nature and
form of the US$10 billion rescue package for Indonesia, and how
Singapore and other members of the Association of Southeast Asian
Nations will benefit from it.

Another is expected to ask Hu how the offer will affect
Singapore's foreign exchange reserves and whether money in the
Central Provident Fund will be affected. The cash-rich fund
manages the country's pension fund.
