Istanbul (ANTARA) - Iranian Parliamentary Spokesperson Ebrahim Rezaei stated that control over Iran has ended amid escalating tensions with the United States.

“Starting today (Sunday), our self-restraint has ended. Any attack on our ships will be met with a harsh and firm response against US ships and bases,” Rezaei said on platform X.

The spokesperson for the Iranian parliament’s Foreign Policy and National Security Committee warned that time is running out to counter American interests.

“The best path (for the US) is to surrender and offer concessions. They must adjust to the new regional order,” Rezaei said.

A ceasefire came into effect from 8 April through mediation by Pakistan and was followed by talks in Islamabad, which failed to produce a permanent agreement.

The ceasefire was then extended indefinitely by US President Donald Trump without a specified timeframe, paving the way for diplomacy towards a permanent solution to the conflict.

The US has imposed a naval blockade since 13 April, targeting Iranian maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
