Spokesperson Denies Rumours of JK Travelling to Tehran, Says He is Visiting Several ASEAN Countries

JAKARTA - The 10th and 12th Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (JK), is visiting several ASEAN countries to attend a dialogue related to peace. JK’s Spokesperson, Husain Abdullah, revealed this while denying the circulating rumour that JK was going to Tehran, Iran. “Mr JK is not going to Tehran but to several ASEAN countries to attend an invitation for a dialogue on peace. Accompanied by Prof. Hamid Awaludin,” said Husain, when confirmed, on Thursday (26/3/2026). On the other hand, although JK is not travelling to Tehran, the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) is indeed preparing humanitarian aid for Iran. The PMI aid consists of medicines that will be sent in early April. “Separately, PMI is preparing to send humanitarian aid in the form of medicines to Iran in early April. But it is not related to this ASEAN visit,” he said.
