SPN Polda Metro Jaya students hone empathy through social service in Bogor
As many as 774 students of the Police NCO Formation Education (Diktukba) for the 2026 academic year at the State Police School (SPN) of Polda Metro Jaya honed their social awareness through a community service programme for residents in Bodogol, Watesjaya Village, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Sunday.
Head of SPN Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol. Abdul Waras, emphasised that the activity was designed to shape the character of Bhayangkara officers who are physically and mentally resilient, while also possessing high empathy.
“A good police officer is one who is present and beneficial to the community. This is early training for them before they go into the field,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.
He also reminded the students to uphold the trust and good name of the institution while carrying out their future duties.
“The taking of the flag is not merely a symbol; it is a mandate. Wherever you are, carry the good name of your alma mater and safeguard the honour of the Polri institution,” he stressed.
The series of traditions and social service activities concluded with a consolidation assembly attended by all students and the teaching staff of SPN Polda Metro Jaya.
The activities began with a 5.5-kilometre long march from SPN Polda Metro Jaya to Bodogol Field. After receiving the platoon and company flags, the students distributed social assistance to residents living along the route.
One of the aid recipients, Sayuti, expressed appreciation for the concern shown by the prospective police officers.
“We are proud that SPN Polda Metro Jaya students are willing to share directly with the community. Hopefully they will become police officers who are close to the people,” said Sayuti.
Following the social action, the activity continued with a second-stage long march of 7.5 kilometres to Tri Brata Field for the battalion flag-taking ceremony.
The traditional flag handover ceremony, symbolising pride, honour and responsibility, was presented directly to representatives of the student regiment.
