SPMB Jakarta Accommodates 245,980 New Students, Education Agency Ensures Transparent Admissions
The Jakarta Provincial Education Agency (Disdik) has prepared capacity for 245,980 new students under the New Student Admission System (SPMB) for the 2026/2027 academic year. This year’s SPMB implementation covers state education units, the Joint SPMB, and Free Private Schools.
Head of the Jakarta Provincial Education Agency, Nahdiana, stated that the 2026/2027 SPMB is designed to ensure every child in Jakarta has an equal opportunity to access quality education. Its execution is also directed to be free from discrimination and easily accessible to the public.
“We are implementing the 2026/2027 SPMB to ensure new student admissions are more objective, transparent, and inclusive. The principle is that every child in Jakarta must have the same opportunity to receive quality education services,” she said in a statement on Monday (15/6/2026).
She explained that this year’s SPMB not only regulates admissions to state schools but also expands educational access through private schools collaborating with the Jakarta Provincial Government. Under this scheme, educational choices for the public become broader, especially for families requiring support in accessing schooling.
“The Jakarta Provincial Government wants to ensure that access to education does not rely solely on state schools. Through the Joint SPMB and Free Private Schools, we are expanding choices for the public so that children can still attend school with proper and quality services,” she said.
For the 2026/2027 academic year, the capacity of state education units reaches 228,163 new students. The breakdown consists of 6,310 early childhood education (PAUD) students, 95,965 primary school (SD) students, 73,289 junior high school (SMP) students, 29,337 senior high school (SMA) students, 19,541 vocational school (SMK) students, 891 special needs school (SLB) students, and 2,830 community learning centre (SKB) students.
Additionally, the Joint SPMB involving 298 private schools provides capacity for 7,708 new students, comprising 1,597 junior high, 2,519 senior high, and 3,592 vocational school students. Meanwhile, the Free Private School SPMB involving 103 schools provides capacity for 10,109 new students across primary, junior high, senior high, vocational, and special needs levels.
The 2026/2027 SPMB offers four admission pathways: the Achievement Pathway, the Affirmation Pathway, the Domicile Pathway, and the Transfer Pathway. The Achievement Pathway is for prospective students with academic or non-academic achievements. The Affirmation Pathway is intended for prospective students from underprivileged families.
The Domicile Pathway considers proximity of residence to the school, distribution of domiciles, and capacity. The Transfer Pathway is for children of families whose parents are reassigned, as well as children of teachers or education staff who wish to attend school where their parents work.
In terms of mechanism, the SPMB is conducted online for state schools at the primary, junior high, senior high, and vocational levels, as well as private schools participating in the Joint SPMB. For early childhood education, special needs schools, and community learning centres, implementation is hybrid, combining online and offline methods. Meanwhile, the Free Private School SPMB is conducted offline.
The stages of account submission and Family Card verification have been carried out in phases, starting with primary school level on 18 May 2026, junior high on 25 May 2026, and senior high and vocational schools on 2 June 2026. Registration for new student admissions is scheduled to begin on 15 June 2026.
Nahdiana confirmed that the entire SPMB process is free of charge and does not accept gratuities in any form. She urged the public to carefully observe the official schedule and regulations and not to easily trust information outside the official channels of the Jakarta Provincial Education Agency.
“We emphasise that the SPMB is free of charge and no gratuities of any kind are permitted. We ask the public to observe the schedule, follow official procedures, and not trust information outside the official Education Agency channels,” she said.
She added that complete information regarding the 2026/2027 SPMB can be accessed through the websites disdik.jakarta.go.id and spmb.jakarta.go.id. The public can also obtain information through the official social media of Jakarta New Student Admissions, namely Instagram @officialpmbdki, Facebook PMBDKI1, and X @PMBDKI.
According to Nahdiana, her agency also provides admissions posts at all state schools, admissions posts at municipal education sub-agencies, and the Education Agency office. Members of the public experiencing difficulties can access these services either offline or online.
