Splitting Family Cards Can Now Be Done via IKD Application, Here Are the Steps
The Digital Population Identity (IKD) application now facilitates the process of splitting Family Cards (KK). There is no longer a need to visit the Civil Registry Office (Dukcapil) in person, as the separation of Family Cards can be conducted online via the IKD application.
Quoting from the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Dukcapil website, this service is available through the ‘Split/Separate Family Card’ menu. The following are the steps to apply for a Family Card separation through the IKD application:
Open the IKD application
Select the ‘Split/Separate Family Card’ menu
Fill in the data according to the current population status
Upload the required documents
Wait for the verification process by Dukcapil officers
If the application meets the requirements, a new electronic Family Card will be issued.
The public is advised to ensure that the uploaded data and documents accurately reflect their actual circumstances. Complete documentation will assist in smoothing the verification process.
Documents to be Prepared
The Family Card separation service via IKD can be used, among others, by family members who have married and intend to form a new household. Separation can also be carried as a result of legal reasons or changes in family status that meet population administration regulations.
A number of documents must be prepared, such as a photo of the old Family Card and the applicant’s electronic ID card (e-KTP). For applications related to changes in marital status, applicants must also attach supporting documents, such as a marriage book or divorce certificate, as required.
The new Family Card is equipped with a QR Code as part of the population document verification mechanism. Once issued, the Family Card can be downloaded via the application and subsequently printed by the applicant.
The Family Card separation service through IKD is part of the Directorate General of Dukcapil’s efforts to expand digital population administration services. Citizens are not only able to store population documents on their mobile phones but can also independently apply for various services.
Consequently, changes to family data, which were previously synonymous with long queues at service offices, can now gradually be performed from anywhere, provided that citizens meet the requirements and have access to the IKD application.
