Split-second duel as ojek driver fights robber posing as a passenger in Bogor

A motorbike taxi stand in Bogor Regency, West Java, was the scene of a confrontation between an ojek pangkalan rider and a robber who had initially pretended to be a passenger. The incident occurred on Thursday evening, 21 May 2026. Initially, the robber arrived at the ojek pangkalan in Desa Tegal Panjang, Cariu, Bogor, with another person.

‘At first he came with two people, riding on a motorcycle. Then at the ojek pangkalan the perpetrator stopped; his accomplice did not know where to go and left from there. Then the perpetrator asked to be taken to an area around Tegal Panjang, and he rode off with the victim,’ said Cariu Police Chief AKP Agus Hidayat on Friday, 22 May 2026.

He said the suspect suddenly grabbed the handlebars of the motorcycle and pulled hard on the brake, causing both riders to fall. The perpetrator then punched the victim and tried to take his motorcycle.

‘In the dark location, by the edge of a rice field, the perpetrator grabbed the victim’s handlebars from behind and pulled the front brake. It happened so suddenly that they crashed. The victim was punched by the perpetrator, but because the victim is still young, he fought back,’ Agus said.

He said the ojek driver then shouted for help, and locals nearby heard him. Residents arrived and beat the robber.
