Quoted from the Indonesian Ministry of Defence website on Monday (11/5/2026), this latest strategic transport aircraft of the Indonesian Air Force measures 45.1 metres in length and has a wingspan of 42.5 metres. These specifications position the Airbus A400M as one of the most modern heavy-lift transport platforms in its class.

Indonesia purchased the aircraft in 2021 when Prabowo was still serving as Minister of Defence, and it arrived in Indonesia in November 2025. Indonesia is recorded as the 10th country in the world and the second in Asia to operate the Airbus A400.

The A400M made its maiden flight in 2009, with the first production model entering service in 2013. Some of the countries ordering this aircraft include Germany, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

The Airbus A400 is designed to carry heavy loads of up to 37 tonnes, equivalent to two armoured trucks or one medium-sized helicopter. The aircraft is capable of flying at speeds of up to 780 km/h and has a range of approximately 8,710 kilometres.

The A400M also offers extensive strategic mobility. To complement these capabilities, the A400M is equipped with other key features that enhance operational flexibility across various missions. The A400M serves as a multi-role aircraft for in-flight refuelling.

In addition, the aircraft can perform logistics drops to support humanitarian operations and is capable of taking off from short runways or unprepared dirt fields. The A400M can be quickly reconfigured into a firefighting aircraft with a capacity of up to 20,000 litres of water or retardant to combat forest fires in remote areas.

The A400M is also the first large airlifter capable of transporting heavy loads such as 80-tonne fuel trucks and excavators. Furthermore, the aircraft can carry 116 personnel with full combat equipment and is able to transport a Patriot Launcher and Hemtt Truck, nine military pallets, and 54 personnel simultaneously.

As is known, Prabowo used the Maung MV3 Garuda Limousine vehicle for the first time in an overseas visit while attending the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines. The Maung was flown directly from Indonesia to Cebu using the Indonesian Air Force’s Airbus A400M aircraft.

Quoted from the Presidential Palace Press Bureau on Sunday (10/5), the presidential vehicle, a product of Indonesian ingenuity produced by PT Pindad, had arrived in Cebu earlier on Monday (4/5). From the hold of the Indonesian Air Force’s Airbus A400M aircraft, the Maung MV3 Garuda Limousine was transported directly from Indonesia to accompany Prabowo’s mobility during the state agenda.
