Specifications of the F-16 Fighting Falcon, the Fighter Jet that Escorted Prabowo during the TNI AU Anniversary
Six fighter aircraft escorted President Prabowo during his working visit to Magelang, Central Java, on Thursday (9/4/2026). Four of the fighter jets were F-16 Fighting Falcons, which escorted Prabowo as part of the 80th anniversary celebrations of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Air Force (AU). From the cockpit of the escort aircraft, TNI AU pilots conveyed their respect and appreciation to Prabowo for his support in strengthening and modernising national air defence. Since serving as Minister of Defence (Menhan) from 2019 to 2024, Prabowo has been credited with strengthening and modernising the TNI AU. As part of the 80th TNI AU anniversary events, they requested prayers for continued strength in carrying out their duties of service to the nation. “With the spirit of boundless dedication, we are determined to strengthen a powerful TNI Air Force towards an advanced Indonesia. Happy anniversary to the TNI Air Force, Swa Bhuwana Paksa salute,” stated the fighter jet pilots. The F-16 Fighting Falcon has a wingspan of 9.8 metres and an empty weight of around 9,000 kilograms. The fighter jet can achieve a maximum speed of Mach 2 or approximately 2,414 km/h, with a maximum flight altitude of 15,000 metres. With such speed capabilities, the F-16 Fighting Falcon can perform high-speed aerobatic manoeuvres and rapid intercepts. The fighter jet is known as a multirole aircraft capable of conducting air-to-air combat as well as ground attacks.
