Specifications of Mahindra Scorpio Set to Become Operational Vehicle for KDKMP
Jakarta – The Mahindra Scorpio Pickup has become the focus of attention following the selection of tens of thousands of units as operational vehicles for the Red and White Village/Kelurahan Cooperative Programme (KDKMP/Koperasi Merah Putih).
The company is set to export 35,000 Scorpio Pickup units to Indonesia in 2026, making it one of the largest export sales in the history of this Indian manufacturer.
Regarding specifications, the Scorpio Pickup is known as a commercial pickup based on a sturdy ladder frame chassis designed for heavy terrain. This chassis makes it easier to modify into operational vehicles such as patrol cars, ambulances, project vehicles, and open-bed pickup versions for cargo transport.
The vehicle is equipped with a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine capable of producing approximately 140 PS (140 hp) and peak torque of 320 Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and four-wheel drive (4×4) system to enhance its capability across uneven terrain.
Basic comfort features such as air conditioning, power windows, 2DIN audio systems, and cruise control steering switches are available in certain variants, whilst safety features include dual airbags, ABS, central locking with remote control, and a chassis structure claimed to be robust for heavy loads.
In the commercial pickup segment, the Mahindra Scorpio can be compared with competitors such as the Toyota Hilux and certain variants of the Isuzu D-Max. In the Indian market, the Scorpio stands out due to its more affordable pricing, ranging between Rp250 million and Rp300 million.
