Specialist Doctor Allegedly Punches Flight Attendant After Plane Delay
Jakarta — Social media users have recently focused on a post by a Super Air Jet flight attendant on the Lombok–Jakarta route, whose Threads account is @exmanef. He said he was punched by a passenger, allegedly a specialist doctor, after the flight was delayed.
The post drew widespread attention and comments from social media users. The flight attendant described the incident, which took place while he was on duty on Sunday (25 October).
In his post, the victim said the passenger who allegedly assaulted him was an internal medicine specialist practising at a private hospital in East Jakarta.
“Basically, he is an internal medicine specialist, and should therefore understand professional ethics in public and be able to distinguish right from wrong,” the @exmanef account wrote, as quoted on Thursday, 29 October 2026.
The alleged assault was reportedly prompted by the passenger’s frustration over the delayed flight. After the incident, the passenger was questioned by the relevant airport authorities.
In a video circulating online, the passenger can be seen apologising and admitting fault.
Airport staff then removed him from the aircraft, meaning he did not continue his journey to Jakarta.
Although the passenger was taken off the flight, the victim said he was still experiencing significant physical and psychological effects from the violence.
“As a result of what he did, I, as the victim, have pain in my abdominal area and am traumatised,” he said.
The flight attendant has undergone a medical examination at a hospital in Palembang and plans to seek a forensic examination after arriving in Jakarta. He said he shared his experience on social media to serve as a lesson for other air travellers.
“As for pursuing this further, it feels like it would only waste time I could spend working. So, as a shortcut, I’ll let social media users be a platform for incidents like this that make no sense,” he wrote.
At the end of his statement, the victim urged passengers to follow aviation rules and not take out their anger destructively on cabin crew.
