Special session
Special session
From Sinar Pagi
The House of Representatives and People's Consultative
Assembly speakers have given the green light for the holding of
the special session. No matter whether the special session is
held in August or July, it appears it is largely aimed at
impeaching the President. So it is likely that Megawati
Soekarnoputri will ascend to the top seat.
On the other hand, the President has tried to thwart the
possibility of being impeached in the special session by
reshuffling the Cabinet a number of times and beginning an
investigation on several national figures over their alleged
wrong doings. And the actions are seen to be somewhat justifying
the means.
The bickering and unhealthy rivalry among the political elite
has become increasingly evident. As a result of these
circumstances, the people at large who are suffering.
