Special Needs School Teacher in Yogyakarta Reported to Police for Allegedly Harassing Disabled Student
A special needs school (SLB) teacher in Yogyakarta has been reported to the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Yogyakarta City Police Criminal Investigation Division after allegedly sexually harassing one of his female students.
“This report concerns an allegation of sexual harassment committed by a teacher at a special needs school in Yogyakarta,” said the victim’s legal representative, Hilmi Miftazen, on Friday (20 February 2026).
Hilmi stated the alleged incidents occurred between November and December 2025, after the student disclosed the teacher’s actions to her family. He described the teacher’s conduct as unethical and said the victim had been left traumatised.
The Head of the PPA Unit, Inspector Apri Sawitri, confirmed the report had been received. “Yes, the report has been filed. It concerns indecent acts against a child. Once the formal police report is finalised, I will provide further confirmation,” Apri said.
Meanwhile, the Yogyakarta Special Region Education, Youth and Sports Agency (Disdikpora DIY) is looking into the allegations. The matter is currently at the clarification stage.
“From the clarification process, there has been an admission, but we need to proceed step by step — we have not yet reached the formal examination report stage. We have information from the parents, but we will also investigate in detail to avoid any errors,” explained Disdikpora DIY Head Suhirman separately.
“We will process this first. The direct superior, namely the school principal, will deal with the individual concerned, and then Disdikpora will examine the available data. We will then form a team to produce the formal examination report,” he added.
From preliminary inquiries, Suhirman indicated that several pieces of information had emerged, though he declined to elaborate on the details as the investigation remains ongoing.
