Special music for Semanggi victims

BANDUNG (JP): Musician Harry Roesli, noted for his "eccentric" works, is planning a traveling performance atop a trailer around Bandung.

He said the performance, scheduled for Nov. 19, was to commemorate the seventh day after the Semanggi tragedy in which seven students were killed last Friday.

"The theme will be called SI-MPR," he said. Instead of meaning Special Session of the People's Consultative Assembly, he said the acronym stood for Special Show of the People's Consultative Music.

"My heart is painful and sad," he said of the violence in the capital which has left 15 dead since Thursday, and more than 400 injured. "I can only support the students' movement through my traveling performance," he said, adding he hoped the authorities would not block his plan. (43)
