Special Message from Prabowo to BGN: Enhance the Quality of MBG Kitchens
JAKARTA - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has ordered a comprehensive enhancement of the quality of the kitchens for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme, or Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG).
Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana stated that the special message from Prabowo was delivered on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr 2026 or 1447 Hijriah.
“The President’s special message on Eid al-Fitr is for BGN to improve the quality of the implementation and services of SPPG,” said Dadan in his statement on Monday (23/3/2026).
“SPPG units that are inadequate should be temporarily closed and quality improvements carried out immediately,” Dadan emphasised.
As a follow-up to this instruction, BGN has formed a special unit tasked with monitoring the implementation of certifications across all SPPG.
In the initial phase, the supervision focuses on three main certifications: the Hygiene and Sanitation Fitness Certificate (SLHS), the Halal Certificate, and HACCP certification (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point).
“Once these three certifications are fulfilled, it will proceed to certifications related to the quality of SPPG human resources, including chefs, food handlers, and environmental analysis,” Dadan continued.
The administration of these certifications will serve as the basis for determining the classification or grading of SPPG.
This system is expected to create measurable quality standards while encouraging sustainable improvements in service quality.
“While awaiting the establishment of a national SPPG accreditation institution or body, BGN will form an internal SPPG Classification Team,” he explained.
This step is seen as part of BGN’s strategic efforts to ensure the nutrition fulfilment programme runs optimally, safely, and in accordance with national and international standards.
“This is to systematically prepare for external accreditation institutions or bodies,” Dadan concluded.
