President Prabowo Subianto invited former presidents and vice presidents, as well as a number of general chairs of political parties, to the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta. One agenda item was for Prabowo to discuss the latest geopolitical developments, including the outcomes of his meetings with several heads of state.

The gathering took place at the Presidential Palace complex on Tuesday evening, 3 March 2026. A politician from the Democratic Party said that the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was also expected to attend the meeting.

The 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) also attended. Jokowi’s attendance was confirmed by his aide, AKBP Syarif Fitriansyah. The event began at 19:30 WIB.

“Iftar in Jakarta was at 18:13 WIB. The event began at 19:30 WIB,” Syarif said when asked for confirmation, on Tuesday, 3 March.

Prabowo did not only invite former presidents and vice presidents to the Palace. The general chairs of political parties were also invited. The PAN general chairman Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) confirmed the invitation.

“Correct, at 19:30 WIB,” Zulhas said when asked for confirmation on Tuesday, 3 March.

In addition to PAN, PKS received an invitation from Prabowo. PKS President Almuzzammil Yusuf is scheduled to attend.

“Got (an invitation). God willing, the PKS president will attend,” said Pipin Sopian, Head of PKS’s Presidential Staff Office.

Meanwhile, Golkar Secretary-General Sarmuji said he had yet to learn about the invitation. If there is indeed an invitation, he was confident that Golkar’s chairman Bahlil Lahadalia would attend.

“I haven’t asked the chairman yet. But if it’s true, that’s normal,” he said.

PDI-P Confirms Megawati Will Not Attend

The 5th President Megawati Sukarnoputri was also invited to the meeting at the Istana. However, Megawati was unable to attend.

“Yes, I heard there was an invitation. I only heard about the invitation now during the DPP meeting from the Secretary General. I don’t know when the invitation arrived,” said Deddy Sitorus, a member of the DPP PDIP, to reporters on Tuesday, 3 March.

Deddy said Megawati was unable to attend because she was participating in an internal party event. That event had been scheduled since last week and was only finishing at the end of this week.

“But Madam Mega is unable to attend because she is participating in a series of internal events that had been planned for a long time in Bali since last week and is due to return around the end of this week,” he added.

Dasco says Prabowo Wants to Hear Advice on Geopolitics

The Acting Secretary-General of the Gerindra Party, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, disclosed Prabowo Subianto’s intention to invite former presidents and vice presidents to the Palace. Dasco said Prabowo wants to discuss the latest geopolitical conditions, including his meetings with several heads of state.

“Firstly, the invitation is, of course, about maintaining ties, especially during Ramadan. Secondly, the President wants to provide an update to the former presidents on the latest geopolitical developments following his return from overseas trips,” Dasco said at the Parliament complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, 3 March.

Dasco said Prabowo also wanted to hear advice from former presidents and vice presidents. He noted that the current geopolitical situation must be mitigated for its impact on Indonesia.

“Thirdly, of course, Prabowo also wants to hear inputs and suggestions from the former presidents,” he said.

“To be used as considerations, and in planning mitigations for the nation from the impacts that we all know are occurring at present and which may affect our country,” he continued.

Dasco said all former presidents were invited, though he could not detail who would attend tonight.

“All former presidents were invited. But I am not in a position to confirm who can attend and who cannot,” he said.

The Cabinet Secretary Reveals the Purpose of the Meeting

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained the reason why President Prabowo Subianto was assembling former presidents and vice presidents and party leaders in parliament. Prabowo is said to be seeking views on the current conditions.

“For a cordial discussion and exchange of views. The President wishes to exchange views with those figures,” Teddy said at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 3 March 2026.

When asked what would be discussed, Teddy did not go into detail. What is certain, he said, is that all current issues, including geopolitical conditions, would be discussed.

“Everything will be discussed, once it starts,” he added.

Prabowo Sat at the Same Table as SBY and Jokowi

Prabowo sat at the same table as the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The meeting took place at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. In addition to SBY and Jokowi, the 10th and 12th Vice Presidents Jusuf Kalla (JK), the 11th Vice President Boediono, and the 13th Vice President Ma’ruf Amin attended.

The meeting was held behind closed doors. In a photo released by the Presidential Secretariat Bureau, the discussion was in a circular seating arrangement with several monitor screens in the middle of the room. Prabowo appeared to be seated alongside SBY and Jokowi.

Minister for State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya were behind them. Meanwhile, Jusuf Kalla, Boediono, and Ma’ruf Amin sat to Prabowo’s left, along with former foreign ministers such as Marty Natalegawa and Alwi Shihab, and several cabinet members.

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka sat to Prabowo’s right. Gibran sat with the ranks of party leaders. Across from Prabowo’s table, another line-up of ministers was present at the meeting.
