In a post on KAI’s official account, customers receive a 17 percent discount on commercial economy class long-distance train travel. The promotion is valid in order to celebrate Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day.
Tickets at the promotional price can be purchased on 14–17 August 2026 from 00.01 to 24.00 WIB. Meanwhile, the discounted tickets are valid for departures on 17 August 2026 from 00.01 to 24.00 WIB.
This means customers wishing to take advantage of the promotion need to pay attention to both periods. The promotion applies specifically to the class and travel times determined by KAI.
How to Buy Tickets via the Access by KAI App
Train ticket bookings can be made online through the Access by KAI app. In general, the booking steps are as follows:
Open the Access by KAI app.
Select the train ticket booking menu.
Enter the departure station, destination station, travel date, and number of passengers.
Select the available train journey that suits your needs.
Fill in passenger details and select a seat if available.
Recheck the journey details and ticket price.
Select an available payment method.
Complete the payment within the given time limit.
KAI provides a digital ticket booking service through the app to make it easier for customers to search schedules, make bookings, pay, and obtain travel information.

Open the website https://booking.kai.id/.
Enter the origin and destination stations and the departure date.
Select the number of passengers (adults and infants).
Search for and select an available train schedule.
Enter passenger details according to identity documents.
Select a seat if available.
Ensure the booking details and payment amount are correct.
Proceed with payment until the transaction is completed.
KAI’s booking system allows customers to view schedules and ticket availability for intercity trains as well as make bookings and payments online.

In addition to the long-distance train ticket promotion, KAI is also offering special fares for urban transport services on the occasion of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day. Based on information in KAI’s official post, KRL Commuter Line and LRT Jabodebek fares will be Rp8,000 on 17 August 2026.
The fare applies all day, from 00.01 to 24.00 WIB. This promotion can be an option for people using public transport in the Greater Jakarta area for activities during the Independence Day commemoration.
