Jakarta, VIVA – The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, has received a special directive from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, regarding the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme.

Prabowo, he said, has requested that the BGN enhance the standards of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) and the quality of the MBG programme.

“The President’s special message on Eid al-Fitr urges the BGN to improve the quality of the organisation and SPPG services. Inadequate SPPG units should be temporarily closed, with immediate repairs and quality improvements carried out,” said Dadan in his statement on Wednesday, 25 March 2026.

As a follow-up to this message, the BGN has immediately formed a special unit tasked with monitoring the implementation of certifications across all SPPG units.

In the initial phase, the supervision focuses on three main certifications: the Hygiene and Sanitation Fitness Certificate (SLHS), the halal certificate, and the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification, which form the primary foundation for ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and quality of the food served.

“Once these three certifications are fulfilled, we will advance to certifications related to the quality of SPPG human resources, including chefs, food handlers, and environmental analysis,” said Dadan.

In addition, Dadan emphasised the importance of complete certifications as a benchmark for determining the classification or grading of SPPG units. This system is expected to create measurable quality standards while encouraging continuous improvement in service quality.

While awaiting the establishment of a national SPPG accreditation institution, the BGN will form an internal SPPG classification team tasked with assessing and preparing a more structured and integrated accreditation system for the future.

These steps are seen as part of the BGN’s strategic efforts to ensure that the nutrition fulfilment programme operates optimally, safely, and in accordance with national and international standards.

“Before the SPPG accreditation institution is established, the BGN will specifically form an internal SPPG classification team and systematically prepare for external accreditation institutions,” he said.
