Special Committee on people's fate
Special Committee on people's fate
From Kompas
I consider the House of Representatives as really the people's
representatives and therefore the reflection of the people's
sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia.
Allow me, therefore, to appeal to the members of the House
that, given the country's poor condition in economic, political
and security areas and worsening national unity, they should not
spend a lot of time, energy and thought for many months on
matters laden with political nuances but having little bearing on
the improvement of the people's welfare.
It will be quite wise of them to set up, instead, special
committees to deal with the welfare of civil servants, teachers,
workers and the common people in general. Also, they should set
up special committees on how to overcome the aftermath of natural
disasters that have occurred in some parts of the country. House
members must always be concerned with the fate of the common
people.
