Special Autonomy Funds support 146.3 km of village road construction in Yogyakarta

The Nayantaka Association of Village Heads and Officials in the Special Region of Yogyakarta has stated that the Special Autonomy Fund (Danais) provided by the central government has supported the construction of 146.3 kilometres of village road infrastructure. Suhadi, Secretary General of the Nayantaka Association of DIY, said in Yogyakarta on Sunday that the data compiled shows 146.3 kilometres of village roads have been built using Danais from 2021 to 2025. He noted that, in aggregate, the Danais through the Special Financial Assistance (BKK) has transformed the face of DIY regarding rural infrastructure development, and that village road construction has empowered local communities. “This Danais has greatly changed the face of DIY in terms of infrastructure development through value-based labour-intensive works. If the 146.3 kilometres of village roads were connected, it would almost stretch from Jogja to Semarang,” he said. “The labour-intensive programme over 18 days accommodates 60 local workers, so we can confirm that Danais has had a very positive implication on development in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.” Beyond village infrastructure, he said the Danais has also enabled the rehabilitation of 826 uninhabitable houses from 2022 to 2024, strengthened land administration in 40 villages from 2022 to 2026, and involved 2,182 impoverished residents in various empowerment programmes that provide additional income while increasing community capacity from 2022 to 2026. “Strengthening Danais is an investment for the villages. With strong support, villages can expand public services, food security, develop local economies, preserve culture, and empower the poor and unemployed more optimally,” he said. He added that Danais represents a long-term development investment that will determine the villages’ ability to provide the best services to the community. “The benefits have already been felt by the community, and we hope these benefits can continue to be enlarged.”
