Sparks from Stove Cause Major Fire at Tofu Factory
A tofu processing factory on Jalan Sangkuriang Barat, RT 04, RW 20, Cipageran Village, North Cimahi District, Cimahi City, West Java, was completely destroyed by fire on Thursday. The Head of the Fire and Rescue Section of the Cimahi City Civil Service Police and Fire Department, Aep Mulyana, stated that the fire was first reported at 04:58 WIB. However, the incident is estimated to have occurred earlier, around 04:10 WIB, and by the time firefighters arrived, the flames had already grown significantly. A total of 12 firefighters were deployed, along with five fire engines and one rescue unit, to extinguish the blaze, cool the area, conduct inspections, and collect data. The fire was only brought under control around 07:30 WIB. Aep noted that the narrow and winding access road, which stretches approximately 350 metres from the main road to the scene, hampered the firefighting operation. The fire is suspected to have been caused by sparks from a stove used in the tofu production process. The resulting losses are estimated to be in the hundreds of millions of rupiah.
