SpaceX Propels Elon Musk to Become World's First Trillionaire, Wealth Exceeds Rp17,000 Trillion
Elon Musk has once again made history in the global business world. The founder of SpaceX and Tesla has officially become the first person in the world to possess wealth exceeding US$1 trillion, or around Rp17,000 trillion, making him the first trillionaire in modern history.
This achievement occurred after SpaceX, the rocket, satellite and artificial intelligence company that forms the backbone of Musk’s business empire, successfully raised US$75 billion in a share offering. The move further cemented investor confidence in the various businesses under Musk’s control.
Prior to this corporate action, Forbes estimated Elon Musk’s net worth to be in the range of US$780 billion. However, following the latest calculations based on company documents, his total wealth is projected to surpass US$1.1 trillion once the shares begin trading.
Although the public is more familiar with Musk through Tesla, the majority of his wealth now actually originates from SpaceX. The value of Musk’s shareholding in the space company is estimated to reach approximately US$866 billion. This figure makes SpaceX the largest contributor to Musk’s total wealth, surpassing Tesla and his other assets.
The increase in SpaceX’s valuation has also created a vast gap between Musk and other billionaires. Currently, the world’s second-richest person remains in the range of US$300 billion, or less than a third of the wealth owned by Musk.
Forbes Wealth Deputy Editor Matt Durot assessed that this achievement is unprecedented in the history of modern individual wealth. According to him, only a few business figures have ever touched the US$400 billion mark, while Musk has now surpassed US$1 trillion.
Elon Musk has long been one of the most influential business figures in the world. He first became widely known through Tesla and SpaceX before expanding his influence via the US$44 billion acquisition of the social media platform Twitter in 2022. Through Tesla, Musk succeeded in changing the automotive industry’s perception of electric vehicles. While many traditional car manufacturers still doubted the potential of electric vehicles, Tesla grew to become one of the most valuable automotive companies in the world.
