Spa Therapist Steals Rp1.2bn from Customer, Spends on Gold and Luxury Hotel Bookings
Public Prosecutor Hasanudin Tandilolo stated that Nur Hasannah Prasetya, a spa therapist, stole Rp1.2 billion from customer Tonny Soegiono, which she entirely spent on lavish expenses. Nur allegedly purchased gold and booked deluxe and executive rooms at five-star hotels in Surabaya on five occasions.
‘The Rp1.2 billion was entirely used by the defendant for stays at Shangri-La Hotel five times,’ Tandilolo said in his prosecution statement.
He detailed that Nur booked one deluxe room on 20 August 2024, one executive room on 30 August, another executive on 5 September, a deluxe on 20 September, and an executive on 23 September.
According to current hotel website information, deluxe rooms average Rp1.1 million per night, while executive rooms cost around Rp1.3 million.
Tandilolo noted that although the theft was carried out individually, Nur shared the proceeds with her accomplice, Putrianna Kusuma Wardany, who is now a fugitive. Putrianna used the funds to book deluxe hotel rooms three times.
Nur transferred money to Putrianna’s account 13 times, ranging from Rp10 million to a maximum of Rp74 million.
The theft was only discovered on 25 September 2024 when Tonny accidentally printed his bank statement at a private bank branch in Rungkut Industrial Area. He realised his savings had been drained through 32 transfers to Nur Hasannah Prasetya’s account.
‘All the transactions were found in the victim’s account and only then discovered,’ the prosecutor said.
Nur has been charged with stealing Rp1.2 billion from Tonny Soegiono. Prosecutors stated the defendant exploited the victim’s trust in leaving his phone, secretly making ATM transfers.
Nur is a therapist at Spa Superior Surabaya, and the victim was a long-time customer there.
