Spa Customer Reveals How Therapist Stole ATM PIN to Drain Rp 1.2 Billion

Tonny Soegiono, a spa customer in Surabaya whose Rp 1.2 billion was stolen by defendant Nur Hasannah Prasetya, appeared in court to explain how the accused managed to drain his accounts. He stated the situation arose because he frequently entrusted his mobile phone to her, which also served as storage for two of his ATM cards. According to Tonny, it is strongly suspected that Nur stole the money directly via ATM withdrawals, not online transfers, as he did not possess any mobile banking applications or services. The account that was compromised was linked to an ATM card he rarely used. Regarding the PIN, Tonny suspects Nur learned it when he withdrew cash at a minimarket ATM. He testified to the prosecutor that he had once entered his PIN with Nur standing behind him, but he paid no attention to her at the time. The theft was discovered accidentally when Tonny was forced to use his BCA ATM card, which had been stored behind his mobile phone casing alongside another ATM card, two credit cards, and his ID card, because his other card was left behind. He was shocked upon checking the balance.
