SP3 Issued, Suspect Status of Rismon Sianipar in Jokowi's Diploma Case Dropped
Jakarta, Kompas.com - The Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the suspect status against Rismon Sianipar has been dropped following the issuance of the termination of investigation order (SP3) against him. “Regarding the SP3 case, this means that the legal suspect status for Mr RS has been automatically revoked,” Budi explained to reporters at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Friday (17/4/2026). Budi explained that the SP3 was issued after Rismon underwent restorative justice mechanisms and related application stages. Previously reported, Metro Jaya Police halted the investigation into suspect Rismon Sianipar in the case of allegations of President of the Republic of Indonesia’s 7th, Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi), fake diploma. The police have issued a Termination of Investigation Order (SP3) after Rismon Sianipar reconciled with Jokowi. “The investigators have issued a termination of investigation order against Rismon Sianipar on 14 April 2026,” said the Director of Criminal Investigation of Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Pol Iman Imanudin, during a press conference on Friday (17/4/2026). Iman stated that the termination of the investigation against Rismon Sianipar does not nullify the suspect statuses of others in the trial. According to him, Rismon had met Jokowi at his residence in Solo on 1 April 2026. In that meeting, Jokowi had forgiven Rismon who had accused his diploma of being fake. Subsequently, Rismon also met other complainants at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters. They have accepted Rismon Sianipar’s apology. Metro Jaya Police designated eight people as suspects in the case of allegations of Jokowi’s fake diploma after a lengthy investigation. “Metro Jaya Police has designated 8 suspects in the case of defamation, slander, hate speech, and electronic data manipulation reported by Mr Ir. H. Joko Widodo,” said the Metro Jaya Police Chief, Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, during a press conference at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Friday (7/11/2025). In general, the eight suspects are charged under Article 27A and Article 28 of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (ITE), as well as Article 310 and/or 311 of the Criminal Code, with a maximum prison sentence of 6 years. These suspects are then divided into two clusters according to their actions.
