Sovereign Rupiah Expedition Returns to South Kalimantan
The 2026 Sovereign Rupiah Expedition (ERB) team has returned to visit the remote and outermost islands in the province of South Kalimantan. The expedition, taking place from 9 to 15 June 2026, utilises the KRI HIU 634 to distribute Rp15 billion in fit currency.
On Tuesday (9/6), the Governor of South Kalimantan, Muhidin, alongside the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), officially dispatched the 2026 Sovereign Rupiah Expedition team at the Trisakti Port of Bandarmasih in Banjarmasin. The expedition will visit five islands classified as 3T (underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost) in South Kalimantan, namely Kerasian, Kerayaan, Marabatuan, Matasiri, and East Pulau Laut.
Governor Muhidin expressed his appreciation to Bank Indonesia and the Indonesian Navy for their continued synergy in ensuring that communities in island and remote areas can access proper Rupiah currency.
“This expedition proves that the state is present in all regions of the Republic of Indonesia, without exception, even in remote areas. This expedition serves as a symbol of collaboration and unity,” said Muhermuddin.
The expedition has three primary missions: providing mobile cash services to ensure fit Rupiah reaches the public, educating the community on digital transactions (expanding the use of QRIS), and providing free healthcare services for residents in the visited islands.
The Sovereign Rupiah Expedition is carried out by the Bank Indonesia Representative Office of South Kalimantan Province in collaboration with the Indonesian Navy. The team’s journey, spanning 9 to 15 June 2026, uses the KRI HIU–634 to circulate fit currency totalling Rp15 billion.
The Head of the Currency Management Department of Bank Indonesia, M. Anwar Basori, noted that the economic growth of South Kalimantan remains above the national average.
“The core objective is to ensure that the Rupiah is maintained in every corner of the country and is of high quality so that there is no such thing as counterfeit money,” Basori emphasised.
