Souvenir Shop Selling Train Miniatures at Gambir Station Bustling with Customers During Eid
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The souvenir shop selling train miniatures at Gambir Station is bustling with customers during the 2026 Eid transportation period, which runs from 11 March to 28 March 2026. “Yes, it’s busy. So, during the fasting month, income was low. But when Eid arrives, with the homecoming traffic, sales increase. Even now, with the return traffic, it’s still up,” said Iqbal, the shop attendant at Gambir Station, Jakarta, on Saturday. Iqbal stated that the shop opened during the Christmas and New Year holidays in December 2025 and is located near the Arrival Gate of Gambir Station. During that Nataru period, he recorded profits of up to 50 million rupiah in the first two weeks of operation. However, on regular days and at the start of the fasting month, sales were slow, even with no income for two to three days. Although lower than the Nataru period, sales during Eid are still busier than ordinary days, he said. The souvenirs sold include train miniatures, keychains featuring trains, mugs, coasters, glasses, foldable bags, tumblers, watches, and T-shirts for children and adults with train designs. Meanwhile, the most purchased items are keychains, fridge magnets, mugs, and foldable bags. Prices vary, starting from around Rp30,000 to Rp350,000 depending on the type of souvenir. “We ensure all train journeys run smoothly with maintained punctuality,” he said. Cumulatively, during the Eid transportation period from 11 March to 28 March 2026, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta has served 815,703 departures and 622,517 arrivals, according to data up to 28 March at 09:00 WIB.
