Souto highlights three key areas after nationwide futsal talent scouting

Indonesian national futsal coach Hector Souto highlighted three key areas requiring development after conducting talent scouting trips across Indonesia. He told journalists in Jakarta on Friday that facilities are a priority, noting most regions lack adequate courts despite futsal not being an expensive sport. The Spanish tactician stressed the need for standard 40x20m courts with quality flooring to elevate the sport internationally. Souto also cited the need to improve coaching capabilities, acknowledging many trainers in remote areas require better training opportunities. He pledged to create more learning resources for coaches. The third point was viewing futsal as a future opportunity, with U-16 and U-19 talents already competing in the Pro Futsal League (PFL) and its second division. He emphasised the importance of a robust and sustainable competition structure, citing Spain’s year-round youth leagues as a model. Souto noted Indonesia’s potential with 110 million people under 23, urging government backing and regional sponsorship to harness this demographic. He added that futsal’s school-based popularity provides a strong foundation for attracting sponsors. He confirmed raising these issues with local authorities during his tour.
