Southwest Papua Police Designate Nine Fugitives in District Office Arson Case
Aimas (ANTARA) - The General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Southwest Papua Regional Police has designated nine individuals on the wanted persons list (DPO) in relation to the destruction and arson of the Bamusbama District Office in Tambrauw Regency. The case refers to Police Report Number: LP/B/11/XII/2024/SPKT/Polres Tambrauw dated 2 December 2024. Director of General Criminal Investigation for the Southwest Papua Regional Police, Commissioner General of Police Junov Siregar, in Aimas, Sorong Regency, on Thursday, stated that they have obtained the identities and latest photos of the suspected perpetrators based on witness statements and information from several individuals who have been secured. “From the results of the investigation and witness statements, we have identified nine individuals who are currently on the DPO list. We also have the data and latest photos of the perpetrators,” said Junov. The nine DPOs are initialled TY, AY, MF, SY, TA, AAH, MS, MY, and NY. Junov explained that the number of suspects in this case may increase as the investigation develops. “It is not impossible that the number of perpetrators could increase. From the statements of several people who have surrendered, it was revealed that many people were involved during the incident,” he said. He added that uncovering this case required time because at the time of the incident, conditions at the crime scene (TKP) were still limited, both in terms of personnel and security. “At the time of the incident, the situation on the ground was still limited, so the initial data collection was not optimal. However, through development and examination of witnesses, the case has finally begun to be uncovered,” he explained. “Sooner or later, every criminal act will be uncovered. We continue to deepen the investigation to ensure all involved parties can be prosecuted,” he stated. He urged the DPOs to surrender immediately and asked the public who know the whereabouts of the perpetrators to report to the police. In addition to the Bamusbama District Office arson case, Polres Tambrauw is handling two other cases, namely Police Report number: LP/B/12/III/2026/SPKT/Polres Tambrauw dated 8 March 2026 regarding alleged premeditated murder or mobbing or assault resulting in death, with five DPOs initialled TY, YY, SY, AY, and DY.
