Southeast Sulawesi's Economy Grows as Governor Welcomes 2026 Regional Outstanding Local Government Awards
KENDARI — KOMPAS.com – Governor of Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) Andi Sumangerukka has welcomed the 2026 Regional Outstanding Local Government Awards event organised by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Kemendagri) in Kendari on Friday, 29 May 2026.
According to Andi, Sultra being chosen as host has positively impacted the economy of Bumi Anoa, particularly in Kendari city.
“After the Minister of Internal Affairs granted us the opportunity, Southeast Sulawesi’s economy, especially in Kendari, has surged remarkably. Now, even finding a hotel room is difficult,” he said during the live broadcast of the event on Kompas.com’s YouTube channel on Friday.
At the event, Andi warmly welcomed the arrival of Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago, Minister of Internal Affairs Tito Karnavian, and Minister of Housing and Settlement Maruarar Sirait.
Andi also praised the Ministry of Housing and Settlement for significantly increasing housing assistance quotas for Sultra.
He expressed hope that the event would strengthen collaboration between the central and regional governments to promote balanced national development.
Closing his remarks, Andi congratulated local leaders across Sulawesi who received awards in the event.
The 2026 Regional Outstanding Local Government Awards event was organised by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in collaboration with Kompas.com.
