The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) has named Southeast Sulawesi Province as the second-best performer in the Creative Financing category at the 2026 Regional Local Government Achievement Awards for Sulawesi. The announcement was made during an awards ceremony held at the Hotel Claro in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, on Friday (29/5/2026).
The Creative Financing category is awarded to local governments deemed capable of optimising various resources through innovative regional development financing. The assessment criteria include the ability of the region to manage Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD) to increase Regional Original Income (PAD), digitalisation, financial governance, and various other indicators of regional financial management.
During the event, the Minister of Home Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, explained that the assessment for the Creative Financing category is based on real PAD data sourced from the Regional Government Information System (SIPD).
The Governor of Southeast Sulawesi, Andi Sumangerukka, expressed his gratitude for the achievement attained by the province. As the host of the event, he also extended his thanks to the central government, particularly the Ministry of Home Affairs, for entrusting Southeast Sulawesi as the location for this regional-scale event.
According to Andi, the event has also provided an economic impact for the region, particularly for Kendari City, as evidenced by increased hotel occupancy rates during the proceedings. He also offered congratulations to all local governments in Sulawesi that successfully received awards.
Minister Tito stated that the 2026 Local Government Achievement Awards serve as a platform to recognise regional heads who demonstrate tangible performance in developing their territories. He noted that despite the various challenges faced by local governments, many regional leaders continue to perform effectively, maintain integrity, and consistently drive regional progress.
