Southeast Sulawesi Receives Additional Quota of 650 Uninhabitable Home Renovations
Southeast Sulawesi Province has received an additional quota of 650 uninhabitable home renovations, or Rumah Tidak Layak Huni (RTLH), through the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) programme from the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP). The addition increases the original allocation from 9,350 units to 10,000 units for the 2026 fiscal year. The head of the Southeast Sulawesi Public Housing, Settlement Areas, and Land Affairs Office, Martin Effendi Patulak, stated on 22 June that the total BSPS programme allocation for the province this year now stands at 10,000 units across 17 regencies and cities. Each beneficiary household will receive a budget allocation of IDR 20 million. In addition to the state budget, funding for the programme also comes from the 2026 regional budget amounting to IDR 30.1 billion, while the renovation of 602 units of RTLH is allocated IDR 50 million per unit. Patulak explained that the governor’s lobbying efforts were part of a strategy to alleviate poverty, ensuring that residents without decent housing can live in healthy, clean homes and improve their quality of life. The office records that there are currently around 119,000 families in Southeast Sulawesi who still lack adequate housing. Through the central government’s BSPS programme for RTLH repairs, the provincial government is committed to reducing the housing backlog in order to lower poverty levels in the region.
