Southeast Sulawesi Receives Additional 650 BSPS Units from PKP Ministry

Southeast Sulawesi Province has received an additional quota of 650 units for the Uninhabitable Home Repair programme through the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) from the Ministry of Housing and Residential Areas (PKP) for the 2026 fiscal year. With this addition, the total BSPS aid received by the province this year reaches 10,000 units. Previously, Southeast Sulawesi had obtained an allocation of 9,350 units. The additional quota was secured after Governor Andi Sumangerukka met with Minister of Housing and Residential Areas Maruarar Sirait to propose extra assistance for the community. During the meeting, the governor conveyed that the need for decent housing in the ‘anoa earth’ remains substantial, thus requiring stimulant support from the central government. The entire 10,000-unit BSPS assistance will be distributed evenly across all 17 districts and municipalities in Southeast Sulawesi. Each beneficiary household will receive a budget allocation of Rp20 million. In addition to the state budget intervention, the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Government has also allocated Rp30.1 billion from its regional budget this year for a similar programme. The regional funds are earmarked to repair 602 uninhabitable homes spread across 15 districts and municipalities. Under this scheme, each area receives an average quota of around 40 housing units, with assistance valued at up to Rp50 million per unit. The project is currently awaiting an internal review by the Inspectorate before moving to the tender process so construction can commence promptly. According to data from the relevant agency, approximately 119,000 residents in Southeast Sulawesi still lack decent housing. The collaboration between the central government’s BSPS programme and the provincial budget’s home repairs is therefore expected to cut the housing backlog and serve as an instrument to alleviate extreme poverty in the region.
