Southeast Sulawesi Police Destroy 5.4 kg of Narcotics from April-July 2026 Seizures

The Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda Sultra), through its Narcotics Investigation Directorate, has destroyed 5.4 kilograms of narcotics evidence from cases uncovered between April and July 2026. The Head of Public Relations for Polda Sultra, Senior Commissioner Iis Kristian, stated in Kendari on Tuesday that the destroyed evidence consisted of 3.37 kilograms of methamphetamine and 2.07 grams of cannabis. He said the destruction is part of the law enforcement process and a form of transparency regarding the narcotics cases that have been successfully uncovered. From the total evidence destroyed, the police estimate they have saved approximately 54,536 people from the dangers of drug abuse. He stressed that this measure is not merely to fulfil investigative procedures, but also to prevent the illicit goods from re-circulating in the community. Meanwhile, the Director of Narcotics Investigation for Polda Sultra, Senior Commissioner Amri Yudhy Syamsual Rama Wispha, revealed that the cases involved five suspects, including a housewife, with locations spread across Kendari City, South Konawe Regency, and Kolaka Regency. ‘Looking at the amount of evidence seized, Southeast Sulawesi is now starting to become a destination market for narcotics distribution. Therefore, we really need public support to provide information so that drug trafficking can be prevented early on,’ Amri stated. He added that all the destroyed evidence came from five police reports and one cannabis seizure handed over by Customs and Excise officials.
