KONAWE — The Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration for Southeast Sulawesi, together with the Kendari Class I Immigration Office, carried out data collection and surveillance of foreign nationals at PT Obsidian Stainless Steel (OSS) and PT Virtue Dragon Nickel Industry (VDNI) in Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, on Tuesday to Wednesday, 15–16 April 2025.

The operation formed part of efforts to intensify immigration oversight of foreign nationals' presence and activities within the office's jurisdiction, particularly in strategic industrial zones such as PT OSS and PT VDNI.

The joint team was led directly by the heads of both the Regional Immigration Office for Southeast Sulawesi and the Kendari Class I Immigration Office, supported by their respective staff.

Kendari Immigration Office Head Muhammad Novrian Jaya explained that the operation aimed to ensure compliance with immigration regulations, particularly regarding the completeness of residence permit documents and the activities of foreign workers at both companies.

"In addition to data collection, we also provided education and dissemination regarding the latest immigration regulations and the obligation to report foreign nationals' presence through the Foreign Nationals Reporting Application (APOA) by their sponsors," Novrian said.

The data collection results showed that all foreign workers at PT OSS and PT VDNI held valid residence permits corresponding to the type of activities they were undertaking. The management of both companies also expressed their commitment to continued coordination with immigration authorities and active reporting of foreign workers' presence, including keeping abreast of immigration regulation developments on a regular basis.

The operation represents a preventive measure to maintain orderly conditions regarding foreign workers within the Kendari Class I Immigration Office's jurisdiction, whilst simultaneously supporting investment growth and economic advancement in Southeast Sulawesi.

The Kendari Class I Immigration Office will continue to conduct regular data collection and surveillance of foreign workers within its area of responsibility.
