South Tangerang - The Regional Representative Council (DPRD) of South Tangerang City has officially approved the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) for 2026-2045 as a Local Regulation (Perda) during a plenary session with the city government.

The Head of the Special Committee (Pansus) for RTRW, Ahmad Syawqi, stated that the discussion of the spatial planning regulation had been ongoing for quite some time from November 2025 to April 2026.

“All factions have submitted their final opinions and expressed approval for the RTRW Draft Local Regulation to be enacted as a Perda,” said Syawqi, quoted from Tribunbanten.com on Wednesday (6/5/2026).

Syawqi explained that the preparation of the RTRW involved many stages, starting from discussions with stakeholders, public consultations with academics and the community, to coordination with the provincial government and related agencies.

The South Tangerang RTRW Special Committee previously also conducted study visits to several regions, such as DKI Jakarta, Surabaya, Depok, and Tangerang City, to enrich the substance of spatial planning policies.

Several strategic issues were highlighted in the discussions, including population growth pressures, transportation integration, flood control, addition of green open spaces, waste management, as well as the availability of clean water and sanitation.

Syawqi emphasised that environmental issues are a primary concern in the future implementation of the RTRW.

In addition, the committee also highlighted several field problems, including the synchronisation of road infrastructure authority, such as the Serpong, Muncul, and Parung routes, which still require adjustments between local governments.

From the discussion results, the DPRD provided several recommendations to the South Tangerang City Government, ranging from strengthening supervision of space utilisation, river flow management, to the obligation for industrial areas to provide wastewater treatment facilities.

“The local government must ensure that all industrial areas meet environmental standards, including wastewater treatment installations,” Syawqi stressed.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of South Tangerang, Benyamin Davnie, welcomed the approval of the RTRW and stated that all inputs from the DPRD have been agreed upon together.

He added that the city government will follow up on all those recommendations gradually.

“I have assigned the Deputy Mayor to directly lead the detailing of further steps for future improvements,” he said.
