South Tangerang Police Chief Visits Lawyer Stabbed by Debt Collectors
The Chief of Police for South Tangerang, AKBP Boy Jumalolo, visited Bastian Sori (40), a lawyer who was stabbed by a group of debt collectors, also known as ‘mata elang’ (matel), in Kelapa Dua, Tangerang Regency. The police are still investigating the case. “Visiting the victim of the alleged stabbing incident carried out by debt collectors in the jurisdiction of the Kelapa Dua Police Precinct, South Tangerang Police,” Boy said in a statement on Wednesday (25 February 2026). Boy stated that this activity is a form of the National Police’s concern. He revealed that the victim is still being treated after sustaining three stab wounds, two in the abdomen and one in the back. “This activity is a form of empathy and ensuring that the victim receives proper care, demonstrating attention and concern for the victim of the crime,” he said. Chronology of the Stabbing The Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, said the incident occurred on Monday (23 February) at 4.40 pm. The victim and his wife, who were about to pick up their child, encountered three perpetrators in front of their house. “The victim and the three unknown individuals had an argument about the outstanding payments for the victim’s white Toyota Fortuner car, which had been overdue for two months. The victim and the witness ignored the three unknown individuals who claimed to be debt collectors,” Budi told reporters on Tuesday (24 February 2026). Upon arriving at the housing complex gate, the victim reprimanded the security guard because the perpetrators had come to his house. The perpetrators, who were about to leave the complex, met the victim at the gate. At that moment, an argument ensued, leading to the stabbing. “Because at that time, the car allegedly belonging to the perpetrators was blocking the road, the victim approached the alleged perpetrators to ask for their identification. When the witness came out of the car, he saw that the victim was covered in blood, with the blood coming from the stab wounds in his abdomen, inflicted by one of the men wearing a blue checkered shirt,” Budi explained. Shortly after, the perpetrators left the scene. Budi said the victim was stabbed three times by the perpetrators. Budi Hermanto said that the case is being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Tangerang Police.
