The South Tangerang City Government has once again achieved national recognition. South Tangerang City won the Best III award for the Java-Bali Region in the Poverty Alleviation and Stunting Reduction category at the Ministry of Home Affairs’ 2026 High Achieving Regional Government Appreciation event. The award was presented as a form of appreciation for the commitment and performance of the South Tangerang City Government in tackling poverty and accelerating stunting reduction in an integrated and sustainable manner. In addition to receiving the award, the South Tangerang City Government also received an appreciation fund of Rp1 billion from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The award was handed over by the Minister of Housing and Settlements, Maruarar Sirait, to the Mayor of South Tangerang, Benyamin Davnie, during the 2026 High Achieving Regional Government Appreciation event in Yogyakarta on Thursday (4/6/2026). In the assessment for this category, regional governments are evaluated based on commitment and performance achievements in poverty alleviation and the acceleration of stunting reduction. Aspects considered include cross-sector programme convergence, basic service achievements, the effectiveness of interventions at the village or sub-district level, and the rate of decline in poverty and stunting figures as tangible development results. Previously, South Tangerang City had touched a stunting prevalence figure of 19.9 percent. That figure was successfully reduced to as low as 9 percent. The target for 2027 is for the stunting prevalence rate in South Tangerang to reach 7.05 percent. Meanwhile, the poverty rate in South Tangerang stands at 2.36 percent, the lowest in Banten Province. Additionally, regional innovation also serves as an added value demonstrating the regional government’s ability to deliver creative, adaptive solutions that have a direct impact on the community. The Mayor of South Tangerang, Benyamin Davnie, expressed his gratitude for the award achieved. According to him, this achievement is the result of joint work by all regional apparatus, stakeholders, and the community in supporting various development programmes oriented towards improving the quality of life for residents. ‘Alhamdulillah, this award is a motivation for us to continue strengthening efforts to alleviate poverty and accelerate stunting reduction in South Tangerang City. This is not only an achievement for the regional government, but also the result of collaboration from all elements of society who have supported various development programmes,’ said Benyamin.
