South Tangerang Deputy Mayor Stresses Fasting is No Excuse for Civil Servants to Ease Work Tempo
During the Banten Provincial Government and South Tangerang City Government’s Ramadan Safari held at the Baiturrahmi Islamic Centre in Serpong on Friday, 27 February 2026, Deputy Mayor Pilar Saga Ichsan issued a firm reminder to all municipal administrative organisations (OPD) that fasting is not a reason for state apparatus to reduce work tempo and quality of public services.
Pilar emphasised a strict message to all municipal agencies to continue pursuing their targeted performance progress. He instructed that routine evaluations must continue without compromise, particularly regarding billboard licensing, building surveillance, and oversight of structures lacking proper permits in the South Tangerang area.
“I remind all the OPDs to pursue their work progress. During this Ramadan month, there must be no slackening, because public services must remain protected,” Pilar stated firmly during his address at the event aimed at strengthening Islamic brotherhood and development synergy between government and society.
Aligned with this message, Banten Deputy Governor Dimyati Natakusumah attended to reinforce the message of unity for South Tangerang residents as a critical buffer zone for the capital city. Dimyati called on all segments of society to maintain courtesy and family spirit, whilst ensuring that collaboration between provincial and municipal governments remained solid in overseeing development programmes.
Beyond serving as a performance evaluation forum, the event also included tangible humanitarian action through the distribution of assistance from the Banten Provincial Baznas worth Rp233 million. This assistance targeted various beneficiaries, ranging from mosque custodians and Quranic teachers to mortuary workers, persons with disabilities, construction of decent housing, and clean water facilities for those in need.
The 2026 Ramadan Safari ultimately transformed from a purely ceremonial religious forum into a point of emphasis for bureaucratic oversight, where the South Tangerang Municipal Government ensured that development tempo and citizen welfare remained top priorities, operating optimally even during the fasting observance period.
