The South Sumatra Regional Police, through the Pagar Alam Police District, have sought to absorb public aspirations and invite community participation in maintaining security and order through the ‘Ngopi Dai’ activity in Dusun Talang Tinggi, Pagar Alam, on Tuesday (29/9).

Pagar Alam Police Chief, AKBP Adam Purbantoro, personally led the activity alongside residents, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and members of the press. This ‘Ngobrol Pintar Dialog Aspirasi Interaktif’ (Smart Chat Interactive Aspiration Dialogue) programme provides a space for the community to convey needs, complaints, and security issues within their environment.

“We want to be closer to the community, to hear aspirations directly, and to understand the problems faced by residents. Through Ngopi Dai, we invite the public to build good communication with the police and to work together in maintaining local security,” said Adam Purbantoro in a written statement on Wednesday (30/9/2026).

During the dialogue, residents expressed the need for street lighting and the installation of CCTV in Dusun Talang Tinggi. The community also highlighted traffic accidents on Jalan Pagar Agung, congestion around the Telaga Biru intersection during school hours, and the issue of carrying sharp weapons which could potentially disturb public safety.

Adam Purbantoro also urged residents to increase their environmental awareness and to promptly report any potential disturbances to public order. Communication can be facilitated through Bhabinkamtibmas (community policing officers), local police stations, the District Police, or the free Polri 110 Call Centre.

“Do not hesitate to convey information or problems to us. The public can contact Bhabinkamtibmas, visit the local police station or District Police, or utilise the 110 service so that reports can be acted upon immediately,” he added.

Meanwhile, the North Pagar Alam Police Chief, IPTU M. Dea Fajrul Falah, emphasised the importance of citizen involvement in identifying and reporting local issues. Direct dialogue serves as a means to strengthen partnerships while understanding the security situation from the community’s perspective.

“Residents know the conditions of their respective environments best. Therefore, the commitment to protecting one another and providing information to the police is vital. Through closer communication, we can work together to prevent potential security disturbances,” said Dea Fajrul Falah.

South Sumatra Regional Police Head of Public Relations, Kombes Pol Nandang Mumin Wijaya, asserted that communication spaces like Ngopi Dai are part of the effort to provide policing services that are closely aligned with community needs.

“The spirit of the National Police for the community is realised by being present, listening, and building collective awareness. Citizens’ aspirations are important input for the police, while community participation strengthens efforts to keep public order conducive,” he stated.

Through Ngopi Dai, the Pagar Alam Police aim to strengthen trust and establish the community as partners in maintaining security. From this dialogue space within residential areas, the ‘Nyago Bumi Sriwijaya 24/7’ spirit is built through open communication and environmental care.
